Welcome to the Supporters Charter
The County Durham Pound Project is a place-based approach to creating social value. To make this vision a reality, we established a network of local partners – known as anchor institutions – to boost local spending and amplifying social value through collaboration. Together, these partners form a collective, committed to leveraging their buying power, employment practices, and social value contributions for the benefit of County Durham’s people and communities.
Following the successful launch of the Supporters’ Charter last year, we’ve been inspired by the collaboration and enthusiasm across sectors it has sparked. As we move forward, we’re committed to strengthening the shared vision of existing supporters and proudly opening the door to a new group of like-minded organisations to sign up.

The Charter - Supporters will:
Everything we do is designed to bring social value to County Durham. That’s why all Supporters will be based and/or carry out operations in County Durham.
Supporters will commit to supporting and striving to our aims:
- Create more jobs for local people
- Reduce our impact on the environment
- Support with meaningful training and upskilling
- Help community groups and charities
- Prioritise better health and wellbeing
- Focus on equality, diversity and inclusion
At the County Durham Pound Project we are committed to accountability and transparency.
Supporters will actively demonstrate their impact on County Durham aligned to the County Durham TOMS Framework and will produce an annual report on their Social Value achievements in County Durham.
Increasing stakeholders’ and customers’ understanding of what social value is and what it means for County Durham is really important. Supporters will therefore work to increase the the understanding of social value and how it can help everyone right across County Durham.
Working together to create social value is the bedrock of what we do at the County Durham Pound Project. It is therefore vital that partners agree to work and collaborate with the founding partners to help maximise social value across the County.
