Strength in Collaboration: County Durham Pound Networking Event

The County Durham Pound project is preparing to host “Creating a Legacy,” an exclusive networking event that will unite key partners, supporters, and allies from across the public sector, private enterprises, and the VCSE community.

What is the Creating A Legacy about?

Taking place on Wednesday 24 September at the Radisson Blu, Durham, the event will celebrate the collective achievements of the project so far while exploring the future of social value in County Durham.

At the heart of the County Durham Pound are clear goals: keep more money circulating locally; create more jobs for local people; reduce environmental impact; support meaningful training and upskilling; and prioritise equality, diversity, wellbeing, and community support.

By working collectively, the project aims to ensure that every pound spent in County Durham delivers the maximum possible benefit for people and places. The initiative is supported by its partners who represent some of the region’s biggest employers.

What will be covered on the day?

The day will begin with light refreshments and an exhibition, followed by a welcome from believe housing and a keynote address from event sponsor BAM.

A highlight of the programme will be the panel discussion, Social Value: Transactional to Transformational, offering fresh insights into how organisations can create lasting impact through their work.

Delegates will also hear from Luke Joseph, Voice and Participation Practitioner at Durham County Council, who will share powerful reflections on the barriers faced by care-experienced individuals in accessing training and employment opportunities.

Throughout the day, there will be multiple opportunities to connect, including a roundtable on unlocking social value and a closing lunch session designed to strengthen collaboration across sectors.

This event marks a landmark moment for the County Durham Pound, reinforcing its commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and building a lasting legacy of social value across the region.
